Gold brazing alloys are used to braze iron, nickel, and cobalt base metals. Gold alloys provide greater resistance to oxidation, corrosion, and ductility, which can play an important role in the service of the part. Prince & Izant recommends brazing gold alloys by way of induction, furnace, or resistance heating in a protective atmosphere, which includes vacuum and does not require flux. A borax-boric acid flux is used when the application requires a flux.
