Au88-Ge
Au88-Ge is a high temperature solder used for joining both ferrous and non-ferrous base materials. Common applications include die attachments and other electronic assemblies.
Available Forms
Wire, strip, engineered preforms, specialty preforms per customer specification, powder and paste.
Characteristics
Au88-Ge exhibits good wettability and a narrow melt range which can be beneficial for brazing narrow joint clearances while also limiting heat exposure. Au88-Ge is also a low vapor pressure alloy and can be used for joining assemblies which require low temperature exposure but cannot use a traditional solder containing high vapor pressure elements. Au88-Ge will not wet directly to stainless steel, therefore plating of the stainless is required prior to soldering.
Properties
The properties of a soldered joint are dependent upon the base metal, joint design and soldering technique.
