Copper Brazing Filler Metals
Copper Brazing Filler Metals
Copper brazing alloys are well known for their excellent resistance to corrosion, high electrical conductivity, and high thermal conductivity and are generally used for brazing carbon and alloy steels, stainless steel, nickel, and copper-nickel. Copper alloys are ductile, wet iron appropriately, and exhibit excellent joint penetration. These alloys are primarily used in furnace brazing with protective reducing atmospheres without a flux. Flux may be required for metals that have constituents with oxides that are difficult to reduce.

Copper-Phos (Silverphos) Brazing Filler Metals
Copper-Phos (or Silverphos) brazing alloys are designed to braze copper-to-copper and copper-to-brass. The phosphorus content acts as a fluxing agent during the braze process and deoxidizes copper. These alloys are available in a variety of compositions and a range of melting temperatures for customer specific applications.

Copper-Zinc Brazing Filler Metals
Copper-Zinc brazing alloys are used for their high strength and stress characteristics. These alloys are brazed using torch, furnace or induction heating but be mindful of overheating – doing so can vaporize the zinc and leave voids in the joint.
