PAL 65/BVPd-1 Technical Data

Uses

PAL 65 can be used on any common molybdenum, tungsten or iron based heat-resistant alloys. Due to the relatively low penetration of the base metal during brazing this alloy is ideally suited for thin components such as thin-wall tubing or electronic vacuum devices. .

Brazing Characteristics

The palladium content in PAL 65 inhibits the potential of stress corrosion cracking in iron-nickel base metals in comparison to standard silver-copper alloys. PAL 65 also exhibits higher corrosion and oxidation resistance than standard silver-copper alloys. This alloy composition is ideal for use in applications which require a low volume of volatile constituents.

Properties of Brazed Joints

The properties of a brazed joint are dependent upon the base metal, joint design and brazing technique. For controlled atmosphere brazing or vacuum brazing the recommended radial joint clearance for silver base alloys falls within 0.000in – 0.002in (0.00mm – 0.05mm) range.

PAL 65 alloy conforms to: Unified Numbering System (UNS) P03657 and American Welding Society (AWS) A5.8/A5.8M BVPd-1 Grade 1 and Grade 2.
