USES

Platinum Iridium alloys are ductile and malleable. Smally adiditons of iridium imrpove microstructural stability of platinum at elevated temperatures, without significantly affecting the mechanical strength and forming characteristics.

MANUFACTURING CHARACTERISTICS

Mechanical strength, thermal and corrosion resistance becomes greater with increasing iridium content. Platinum iridifum alloys often suffer from increased weight loss in oxidizing atmospheres.

APPLICATIONS

Platinum Iridium alloys are often used as medical leads and electrodes in the manufacturing of implantanle medical devices, such as cardiac rhythm management devices.
