BRAZING PASTE

Brazing pastes are materials consisting of a metal alloy in a powder form that is well mixed with a binder. A brazing flux is typically added to paste to provide protection from oxidation. Pastes can be custom made to customer requirements to improve productivity, repeatability and ease of use in joining applications. The major advantage of brazing paste usage is that it can be dispensed in accurate and controlled volumes. With this level of control, braze joints are able to receive the same amount of paste on each application.

Tips for the successful use of brazing pastes:

  • Design joints so that there is a ledge (or shoulder) to place the paste deposit on
  • Position the braze paste at the mouth of the joint
  • Do not heat the paste deposit with a direct flame rather heat the component

Most common methods in which brazing pastes are used:

  • Torch Brazing
  • Induction Brazing
  • Furnace Brazing
